The three hour ferry ride from Wellington to Picton was picturesque to say the least. Lovely blue skies and blue water the whole time, and bright green forests at the start and end. It was nice to be riding along the water instead of the road for a few hours, and I'm glad we opted for the ferry versus another flight.
After a nice lunch at Cafe Cortado in Picton, we started the windy drive to Marahua. About four hours later we landed at Foley's Creek where we were to stay for a few nights. Gorgeous little cottages in the middle of a valley, with a creek in the backyard... I was in heaven. I enjoyed some quiet time (with the extremely loud and incredibly close cicadas) down by the creek while everyone else got settled.
We are now resting up for our aventura in Abel Tasman the next day. Just given the scenery, I'm already feeling more at home... and at peace.
